When booked on a Quiet zone: Travelers are not supposed to use their phones. The phone device should be kept on Silent mode once onboard the train. Speaking on the phone would be prohibited. If the travelers are found speaking on the phone, the conductor or fellow passengers will ask them not to do so. Phone zone (Nonquiet zone) Mobile phone usage is permitted in the Phone zones. The PDF tickets that do not specify Ruhebereich are for seats that are located outside the Quiet zone. In the Quiet zone (Area Silenzio) available on Business (all Frecciarossa trains) and Standard class (Frecciarossa 1000 only) If a fare suffixed with Silent area is not selected, the seat would be assigned in Nonquiet zone and no changes can be made later.

The rules are No phone calls. Use all electrical equipment in silent mode. Headphones should be at low volume so the noise can't be heard by others. Conversations with fellow passengers should be quiet and with consideration for others. Please be aware of the noise you are contributing and respect the space. Anyone not observing the rules may be asked to stop or move to a different carriage. Please note, as a public space, this is a quiet zone rather than a silent zone. Whilst we will make effort to monitor and address issues of persistent noise, quiet conversation or ambient noise can't be completely eliminated. On-train announcements are still required to play.

Quiet Zones should always match the colour used for the barcode’s spaces and nothing at all should be printed in these areas.
The size of the quiet zones required differs for each barcode symbol and is dependent on how big the barcode is printed.
On the EAN-13 barcode, the first digit of the GTIN shows how much space is required on the left-hand side.
On the right-hand side of the symbol, you sometimes see a little arrow called the Quiet Zone indicator which also shows how much space is required.
As the Quiet Zone is crucial to ensuring the barcode scans properly, it is recommended that you add a couple of millimetres extra on each side of the zone to accommodate any variation in printing.
The Quiet Zones of any barcode will vary in proportion when the barcode size is altered.

Each public crossing within a New Quiet Zone must at a minimum be equipped with gates.
A Quiet Zone must be at least one half of a mile in length, although Pre-Rule Quiet Zones may remain unchanged.

A Pre-Rule Quiet Zone may also be designated if the Quiet Zone Risk Index (QZRI) is less than twice the Nationwide Significant Risk Threshold (NSRT ) and there have not been any relevant collisions at the public crossings within the Quiet Zone for the past five years.
Each public crossing within a Pre-Rule Quiet Zone may retain, but may not downgrade the warning systems in place.

The Quiet Zone is a separate area on a train, designated for passengers who need silence and who respect that others also want to travel in peace and quiet. The following activities are defined as undesirable in the Quiet Zone: mobile phone calls, ring tones, listening to loud music and other activities involving noise generation that may cause discomfort to other travellers in this zone. In the Quiet Zone: remain silent, in exceptional situations you can communicate in a whisper, do not talk on the phone, turn off sound in your telephone, tablet or laptop, listen to music quietly and only using earphones. If you travel with your pupil, remember that the rules of the Quiet Zone also apply to animals. Ordering meals or drinks to your seat is not recommended. Please use the bar carriage.
