Play splashing games is not something to avoid, but other activities such as staying indoors without getting creative can be considered as something not to do. Get imaginative and get cosy are opposites of being inactive. Make an outdoor shelter and collect the rain are outdoors activities that can be done. Having a good imagination helps a child in later years when they are ready to write stories, retell stories and during creative activities such as painting and solving problems. Play with sounds and make mud pies can be part of the things you do on a rainy day.

If you are in the rain driving your car, do not engage cruise control. If you do, at best you may have a spin out. At worst, your car will continue at a constant rate of speed as you slide off the highway into the old river gorge which is swollen with rain water and moving at fifty miles an hour. If you are in the rain driving your car do not cross a puddle of unknown depth especially if you see the back fin of an unidentified fish. If you are in the rain and don’t have an umbrella, do not hold a paper over your head. If you do, at best you will end up wet and ink-covered. If you are in the rain, do not try to run to minimize the effects of the raindrops. If you are in the rain and standing with people to get on the bus, do not mention the rain. If you are in the rain and you are carrying anything, do not think you can keep it dry by shoving it under your clothes. If you are in the rain, do not try to eat your sandwich on the go. If you are in the rain, do not think your dog will perform as they usually do on walk. If you are in the rain and you have a flat tire, do not try to change it yourself. If you are in the rain, do not take your shoes off to prevent your Italian leathers from getting wet.

Avoid walking in flooded areas: Steer clear of flooded streets and areas with strong currents. Avoid playing or swim in flooded areas: Avoid playing or swimming in flooded rivers, lakes, or ponds, as there can be hidden dangers beneath the surface, and the water might be contaminated. Don’t touch electrical appliances with wet hands: Be cautious when dealing with electrical appliances during the monsoon season. Stay away from broken electrical wires: If you come across any fallen or broken electrical wires, maintain a safe distance and immediately inform the appropriate authorities. Don’t leave windows and doors open during heavy rain: Keep your windows and doors closed during heavy rainfall to prevent rainwater from entering your home and causing damage. Avoid street food and unhygienic eateries: While it’s tempting to indulge in street food, be cautious during the monsoon season, as food hygiene standards may be compromised. Don’t ignore signs of illness: If you feel unwell or experience any symptoms of illness, seek medical attention promptly to avoid complications.

Don't let rain keep you inside – there are still plenty of activities you can get up to no matter how wet it is outside. All you'll need for this challenge is a rainy day and a pair of wellies. Running around in the rain might seem crazy when you start, but you'll soon be splishing and splashing around like a fish. Make the most of the rain, put your wellies on and jump in puddles. There are not many things more invigorating than a swim in the big blue sea, even if it's raining. You can try all sorts of designs, but you'll need to work quickly to stop your dam getting washed away. Don't forget, local wildlife will be happier if you knock it down afterwards. You can still enjoy the water washing over your legs and feet, and feel the sand moving between your toes. See if you can spot fish or other creatures that might be interested in your feet. In some places you can hire the boats and all the kit you'll need and in others you can just take off on your own adventure.

If you see flooded streets or pathways, find an alternative route. Avoid driving through flooded areas, as your car can be swept away or stall. Avoid touching electrical appliances, cables, or switches with wet hands. Stay away from any exposed or dangling electrical wires, especially in wet areas. Reduce your speed and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. Turn on your headlights to improve visibility for yourself and others. Teach children about the dangers of playing in floodwaters.
