Consistency, clarity, and courtesy are essential in communication. Be consistent, it's incredibly frustrating when someone says one thing one day and something different the next. Be clear, when you want to be heard, make sure that the messages you're sending are clear, understandable, and straightforward. Be courteous, courtesy conveys respect, when someone feels respected, they're more likely to be open to hearing your message.

The 3 Cs of interpreting body language are foundational to properly understanding what people’s non-verbal signals are telling you. The 3 Cs are Changes, Context, and Clusters. Changes, body language is not a static event, it’s not a picture or a snapshot, body language is fluid communication, and we are looking for changes. Context, body language is only strategically useful within the context of what is being discussed at that moment. Clusters, body language cues must be interpreted in clusters, a singular non-verbal cue is just a signal, and it is very rare to draw a conclusion from it alone. A cluster of cues, however, forms a pattern that is much more indicative of what the subject is thinking and feeling.

Body language is a major contributor of non verbal communication, there are 3 c’s of non verbal communication context clusters and congruence. Context refers to the situational factors, understanding the environment and circumstances makes it easier for a person to identify non verbal cues. Clusters refers to interpreting several body language signals together, this helps us in understanding the overall message being conveyed. Congruence referring to the alignment between spoken words, tone and body language. For example a person saying I’m fine with a shaky voice denotes discrepancy in their words and body language. Clusters helps us in understanding the overall message being conveyed as relying on a single cue might be misleading. For example if someone is avoiding eye contact fidgeting and touching their face again and again denotes they might be feeling anxious or nervous.
