You can touch the monitor to set the focus position. When you press the shutter button halfway down, the camera will focus on the focus position. Focusing frame When shooting with the monitor, touch the position where you want to focus and the focusing frame is displayed in that position. For example, if [Focus Area] is set to [Zone], the focusing frame is displayed in the position touched on the screen. When shooting with the viewfinder, you can move the position of the focus by touching and dragging on the monitor while looking through the viewfinder. After moving the focusing frame, press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The focusing frame turns green once the subject is in focus. To cancel focusing with touch operations, touch (Touch focus release) icon or press the center of the control wheel if shooting with the monitor, and press the center of the control wheel if shooting with the viewfinder.

You can specify where to focus by touching a position on the monitor. Focus is locked at that position. Touching a position on the monitor focuses there. No focusing frame is displayed then, but focus is locked at that position. When [Zone] focusing frames are orange, touching the monitor does not activate Spot Focus. To enable Spot Focus, either press the center of the control wheel or start shooting a movie, and then touch a subject on the monitor after the focusing frame turns gray. To cancel focusing by touch, press the center of the control wheel. In monitor mode, you can also touch the icon in the upper right of the monitor to cancel this function. Select [Touch Focus] when using the Spot Focus function.

This function is available when [Focus Area] is set to one of following parameters. When performing auto-focusing, you can specify the position where you want to focus using touch operations. After touching the monitor and specifying a position, press the shutter button halfway down to focus. Touch the monitor. Touch the subject to focus. The camera will focus on the touched subject. Touch the subject on which you want to focus before or during recording.
