Enrichment day means students have a dedicated day every term and over 3 days at the end of the summer term where they do not follow the timetable. Students are given a variety of opportunities to undertake more immersive learning linked to their curriculum. During the three-day event in the summer term, students will also experience days that encourage personal development. In previous years, students have been given the options of visits to outdoor centres, visits to the theatre, poetry writing at London Zoo, a forensic science day, geography field trips, visits to specialist Art galleries including Saatchi for the Tutankhamun Exhibition and a Macbeth workshop at the Globe Theatre. We have also undertaken activities on site such as sports events, escape rooms and project catwalks.

Enrichment is a term used to describe all the extra learning opportunities a child should receive, whether provided by schools or provided by you as a parent. These don’t necessarily need to be linked to the curriculum. Enriching a child’s education means improving it or making it better in some way. Some schools might organise a special day where they dive into a topic and look at it in more depth than normal - this is also classed as a form of enrichment.

The definition of the word enrichment is the action of improving or enhancing the quality or value of something. Our Enrichment Days do just that for our covenant relationships and our academics. When we talk about Enrichment Days, most of us think of the Fridays in first and second grade when we were assigned a topic to teach to our child’s class. These special days were created for several reasons. Friday Enrichment Days offer a precious time not only to engage students academically but to share the gospel and our love for Christ. Most of our Enrichment Days are created to introduce a subject or to bring a unit of study to life. They enhance the curriculum by giving students a deeper understanding or a broader view of a topic. What better way to highlight a book that has been read, an artist that has been studied, or a time period that has been researched than by a day of meaningful activities.

The enrichment days are designed to help young people learn about some of career and academic opportunities that are available to them. The enrichment programme is about raising aspirations and giving young people a chance to clearly define their own ambitions. We know that there are loads of opportunities for young people. However, some young people are still hindered by a lack of awareness of these opportunities. The enrichment programme helps young people have a better picture of what it will take to achieve their ambitions. What’s important is that young people are aware of the opportunities available to them so that they can make an informed decision about their future academic or career path.
