Dog parks can be stressful for some dogs, but for others, they may not be. My dog is generally pretty assertive and unafraid of other dogs, so she doesn't get freaked out by being in a big group. Of course not everyone will always get along, if I see another dog pushing her around or her doing that to someone else, we just leave before it escalates. Occasionally there's an obviously aggressive/severely afraid dog there, just leave or don't go in. My dog is a bit leash reactive to other dogs, but dog parks seem to have nothing to do with that and she usually has a great time running around and making with dog friends. I know someone who is super into training her reactive dog, who told me I'm making my dog's problem worse by going. These comments are a good reminder that it only takes one time for damage to be caused so maybe it really isn't worth it.

Behaviours such as cowering, hiding, running away, a tucked tail, or snapping may indicate your dog is stressed. Actively monitor your dog continually, keeping them in your sight at all times. Observe their interactions with people and other dogs and be alert to their body language. Calmly end the session and provide necessary support if they show signs of stress or heat stress. Time your visits to the dog park at cooler times of day and provide sufficient fresh water and shade. People and dogs have been injured at off-leash parks, for example, dog fights, being hit by a car, while these incidents are thought to be rare. When you take your dog to an off-leash park, you need to be confident that they will reliably come to you when called and relate to other dogs without becoming fearful or aggressive. If your dog is unwell, avoid taking them to an off-leash park without first seeking advice from a veterinarian.
