To clean your dog's ears, start by placing a cotton ball or piece of gauze in the outer ear canal, just at the entrance of the ear. The cotton should go no further than just inside the opening to the ear canal so that it stays in place without you holding it there, but is easy for you to remove when the cleaning is over. Next, fill the ear canal with cleaning solution by placing the tip of the cleaning container on top of the gauze, right next to the opening of the ear canal, and allow the cleaning solution to saturate the cotton and flow into the ear canal. You should then massage the ear canal, spending about 30 seconds applying gentle pressure in a circular motion to the area where your dog’s ears attach to their head, starting while the gauze or cotton is still inside your dog’s ear, then removing the cotton and continuing to massage. After massaging, let your dog shake their head to remove the fluid and leftover gunk, and keep a towel nearby to protect yourself from any free-flying liquid. Finally, wipe away any visible wax or debris with cotton balls or dog ear wipes.

To flush out a dog's ears, hold the ear flap upright and carefully fill the ear canal with cleaning solution. Keeping the ear flap out of the way, gently massage the base of the ear with your fingers for about twenty seconds. Release the ear and allow your dog to shake their head if they desire. Any excess cleanser that doesn't get wiped out will be expelled by your dog shaking his head. Use a cotton ball or a cotton pad wrapped around your index finger to gently wipe the visible part of your dog's ear canal and outer ear. If the ears still appear dirty when you're done, go ahead and repeat the process, but stop immediately if you notice redness or bleeding, or if your dog shows signs of discomfort.
