That's the distance it will connect to your phones wireless. Once it passes beyond that 393 feet it will go into out of network and will ping its location any time it gets close to someone else with a samsung phone that has bluetooth turned on. So essentially, it could work from across the country as long as it gets near someone with a samsung phone that has bluetooth turned on.

You can absolutely track your keys or anything you have tagged from that distance. You would get the location in your SmartThings App and then be able to get closer to the item. Once in range you would get directions to the item or you would be able to have the device make a noise to help you locate with ease.
