My dog gets too excited around guests, when someone comes to my house she gets overexcited and she starts to jump on them, to get in front of them while they're walking and it is annoying for guests to have a dog like that around them and I don't like that either. She doesn't do that to me, when I see her for the first time in the day I ignore her and she sits next to me and then I pet her. I know about the go to bed command but it just doesn't work in my case, my mother started a business and there's people coming to my house randomly to get their packages and I can't be there all the time to tell my dog go to bed. I would like some advice to train my dog to not be too excited about guests. I need some alternative ways of training her to be calm around guests. I cant be telling guests to freeze for a couple of minutes until the dog calms down so I need some alternatives ways of training her to be calm around guests.

The doorbell is a common trigger for unwanted behavior such as barking or uncontrollable excitement in the home. When guests arrive and your dog gets overly excited, stress levels rise and some visitors may even feel frightened. If your dog gets overly excited when the doorbell rings or visitors arrive, the first thing to do is to put the dog on a leash. Having your dog on leash prior to the trigger will help keep the excitement level to a minimum. When introducing your dog to guests, it is very important to allow them to pet only when the dog is calm. If your dog starts to get excited, put it back into a sit-stay and give it time to calm down. By only allowing petting after calming, you will reinforce that good things will happen when it can stay calm.
