Socialising is important, it is so good for our mental health, personal growth and it increases your sense of happiness, we are social beings. Don’t feel guilty about spending some extra time with the ones you love. Create a schedule, plan when you will do your exercise, work and social time, this will help you balance your life to fit it all in and help prioritise the activities you like to do. Workout in the morning, working out or being active in the morning gets your activity done and dusted so you have the rest of your day to relax. Combine your fitness and social life, for example: bring a friend over for a workout, go for a hike or walk, go surfing, bike to the pub etc. Rest days are important to allow our bodies to heal and rest, take full advantage of these days to focus on your social life, this will not only improve your physical health but also mental health. Incorporate healthy meals into your day, this will give you the proper nutrients you need to keep you going from activity to activity. At the end of the day the goal is to live a BALANCED, ACTIVE and HEALTHY lifestyle - this means finding that happy medium between exercise, eating healthy and socialising with friends.

To be honest, there is no easy answer to it, and it’s something I struggle with all the time. When it comes to balancing all these variables, you need to prioritize. You also need to make time for certain things, otherwise they will simply get neglected. Ultimately, we’re not professional athletes and family will always come first. Before I go into detail, I think it’s important to note that family has - and always will - come first. I’ve noticed that different variables require different amounts of attention at different times. Sometimes in a big marathon build, training requires more time and attention. Then I find that after a marathon build you can focus on ‘filling your cup’ with other aspects of your life like time with friends - areas that may have taken a slight back seat during that training period. You need to look after yourself if you want to look after those around you. If you don’t make the time, it will never be there. Find 10 – 15 minutes of YOU time every day.

I've always placed immense value on maintaining an active lifestyle. My fitness routine is never about pushing my body to the extreme but more about nurturing a balance where I feel strong, healthy, and comfortable in my skin. As someone with a dynamic work schedule and a zest for social activities, it can sometimes be challenging to fit in workouts. I make it a priority to train 3-4 times a week, although the frequency may vary. Scheduling my workout in the morning ensures that I have the rest of the day free for work and personal engagements. To ensure I stay committed to my fitness routine, I add my workouts to my calendar in advance, treating them as an integral part of my weekly schedule. However, the key to maintaining this routine is flexibility. I believe it's essential to listen to your body and respect its need for rest. The most vital aspect of my fitness routine is consistency, but it's equally important to be adaptable. Working out should be something that enhances your life, not something that becomes a source of stress. Ultimately, my goal is to create a routine that is flexible, enjoyable, and sustainable, always leaving room for the things that matter most.

I was at a point where I brought tupperware meals to my friends' houses, wouldn’t eat the food they ate if we went to restaurants, and wouldn’t show up at their house if I had not finished or got my workout in yet. That’s extreme. You may not get it right the first time, but try and strike a balance. If you are doing most things right 90% of the time, then it is completely fine to have a night or vacation where you go off your normal routine. Practice being comfortable saying no to alcohol, or extra foods if it doesn’t fit your regimen, but also feel comfortable saying yes to those things too. Let’s not forget stress plays a big role in our overall progress. If you are constantly worried about pleasing others, and not focusing on choosing what nourishes your soul, then you aren’t doing your body any favors. Don’t Be Afraid to Meet New People, you can, and will meet a new group of people that may better match this lifestyle. Maybe you made a couple friends already at the gym, who you can go out with, or host get-togethers that support your lifestyles.
