Is it too late to train a 10 month old puppy?

Definitely not too late, it is a rather good time to start as you have a young dog. He probably won't be working a real job because one would want to select a puppy & train him from start for that but he could become qualified to do a real job as if you raised him from puppy. My advice is to find trainers that are impressive to you and do what they say, build a good bond, don't talk too much and be consistently predictable. I personally always give the dog a warning cue if i am about to do any sort of correction and i correct everything that is unacceptable and use compulsion if the dog is blowing me off. I don't generally correct mistakes if the dog is trying to figure out what i want.
