Not allowing owners to visit the property - esp once pups have started vaccinations. Insisting on meeting you at the end of the driveway or in town etc is a massive red flag & makes me ask what they are hiding. Not allowing owners to meet mum (and dad if he is on site). Pressuring buyers to rush into decisions on the spot. Encouraging pet owners to take 2 or more puppies home. Lack of health testing in the parents. Lack of home checks to make sure it’s a good match. If the extent of your conversation with your breeder consists of how much they cost and the logistics of getting a puppy up to you, they’re not doing their homework. Breeders who care about their puppies succeeding in homes will ask questions about your lifestyle to make sure it’ll be a good fit.

1. If the breeder or shelter hasn't made an effort to expose the puppy to various people, animals, and environments, it could lead to behavioral issues down the road. 2. Be cautious of puppies that seem lethargic, have discharge from their eyes or nose, or show signs of illness. 3. If a puppy growls, snaps, or cowers away from human interaction, it could be a sign of an underlying behavioral issue that may require extensive training and socialization to overcome. 4. If the breeder is unable or unwilling to provide this information, it could be a red flag. 5. If the breeder or shelter's facilities are unsanitary, overcrowded, or lack proper enrichment, it could be a sign that the puppy hasn't received the care and attention they need.
