If your dog has a fever, of 103° F or more, you can help to cool your dog's body temperature by applying cool water with a soaked towel or cloth to your dog's ears and paws and running a fan near your dog.
Try to coax your dog to drink small amounts of water to stay hydrated, but don’t force your dog to drink.

If your dog is overheated, get them indoors to a cool place, like an air-conditioned room or in front of a fan. Place cool, wet cloths or towels on their neck, armpits, or behind their hind legs. You can also gently wet their ears and paws with cool water. If they are willing to drink, offer them cold water, but do not force them. Keep your best friend hydrated, if you plan on any type of activity outdoors, make sure you bring water with you and take frequent breaks to rehydrate.

If you think that your dog may be ill, taking his temperature at home is a good start.
It’s extremely important to never give your dog over-the-counter medications, such as ibuprofen or Tylenol, to reduce their fever.
These medications are toxic to pets and can result in serious harm or death.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an at-home treatment for dogs or a way to reduce your dog’s fever at home.
As fever is an innate cause and not due to the surrounding environmental temperatures, your dog needs to be examined by a veterinarian to determine the underlying cause.
It can be possible for dogs to recover from fevers without medical intervention especially if no additional symptoms are present.
However, as many causes of fever in dogs can become quite serious if left untreated and are potentially life-threatening, you should have your dog examined right away.

Stop applying the water when your dog’s temperature drops below 103 F.
Continue to monitor your dog closely to ensure that the fever doesn’t return.
It is also important to never give your dog human medications, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
If your dog’s fever is 106 F or higher they need to see a vet immediately.
Contact the emergency veterinarian nearest you right away.
