Neither Bravecto or NexGard have been found to be safer than the other in all situations, but Bravecto can be given to dogs and puppies over 6 months of age and weighing at least 4.4lbs. NexGard may be given to slightly younger dogs – from 8 weeks of age and weighing 4 lbs. Bravecto has a dosage schedule of 12 weeks, but may need to be administered every 8 weeks where the treatment of Lone Star ticks is required. While both of these oral chewables contain different active ingredients, Fluralaner and Afoxolaner they work in the same way. They both provide fast and effective treatment of existing fleas and ticks, but do not repel fleas, ticks or mosquitos. NexGard provides month-long coverage and should be readministered every 4 weeks.
