Regular health checks enable vets to detect potential health problems before they escalate into more serious conditions. Regular trips to see us mean that your pet will be kept safe from disease and parasites through vaccinations and parasite control, we can get to know what’s normal for them and offer dietary advice to keep your pet in optimal health. Identifying and addressing health issues early on can prevent them from progressing into more severe and costly conditions. Regular health checks provide an opportunity for us to assess any age-related health concerns and tailor care plans accordingly. Scheduling health checks every six month is key to giving your pet the best chance of a long and happy life.

All dogs benefit from a regular check up at the vet. A good time to get your dog checked over is while they are having their annual booster vaccination. During their check up, your vet will be able to examine your dog's overall health, their teeth and their mobility. Most dogs will need to have their first course of vaccines while they are a puppy. After that, your dog will need a booster vaccination, usually once a year, for the rest of their life. It's also a good idea to perform regular health checks at home to help you spot potential problems early. You can do this by feeling for any lumps and bumps by running your hand over your dog's coat and under their fur.

An annual health check is important to ensure that your pet is in top condition, and any problems are identified and addressed in good time. All pets should have a full health check once per year. We recommend that older pets are checked every six months as they can be prone to developing age related health conditions. The annual health check is usually performed at the same time as the booster vaccination, but health checks can be booked completely independently of vaccinations if you wish. How often should my pet have a health check.
It really depends on the individual pet.
For most, a health check can be combined with your annual booster appointment although if you haven’t seen us in a while, it’s advisable to book a health check at least once a year so we can provide the best options for you in terms of re-starting vaccinations, general health and parasite control.
Regular health checks will also help us to spot the signs of any problems sooner.
Annual health checks are an important part of your pet’s healthcare routine.
We offer our Pet Health for Life plan, which includes an annual health check for your pet.
