I'd like to let her sleep in her sweater tonight but I'm worried she'll get tangled up in it and manage to strangle herself. I think she was cold. It finally got cold where I live last night and my dog wouldn't settle down. My dog usually sleeps locked in a separate room with a big bolster bed, a toy or two, and a blanket. I'd really like to avoid her getting used to sleeping with me, because my bed is too small for me to sleep with her comfortably. Would it be safe for my dog to sleep in her sweater so she isn't cold or would it pose a potential injury/health hazard?

Dogs with short coats would benefit from the added clothing at night, whereas a long-haired dog would overheat and be miserable as a result. Ultimately it is up to the dog’s comfort as to whether or not he or she needs pajamas or other articles of clothing. If you do decide that your dog needs pajamas, be sure that you take measurements before purchasing the clothes. Be aware and avoid clothes with frills or other dangling pieces that will affect your dog’s movement, sleep health and happiness. If you can, find clothes that indicate they are safe for washing machines. If you’re not as concerned with brands, find a set of pajamas that are breathable, easy to put on and take off, and are soft.
