NexGard and Frontline Plus are both popular products – and produced by the same manufacturer, Merial – but NexGard comes as a flavoured chewable, while Frontline Plus is a spot-on topical treatment. NexGard chewables should only be used to treat dogs. NexGard breaks the breeding cycle by killing fleas before they can lay eggs, while Frontline Plus kills fleas at all life stages: adult, egg, larva and pupa. Frontline Plus has the added benefit of eliminating lice infestations and helping to control sarcoptic mange. Both NexGard and Frontline Plus for Dogs may be used on dogs and puppies as young as 8 weeks of age.

Nexgard and Frontline Plus are well-known and efficient choices for keeping fleas and ticks at bay. Deciding between the two depends on what best suits you and your pet. Nexgard is a chewable tablet your dog can eat, while Frontline Plus for cats and dogs is a liquid you apply on their skin. Chewables like Nexgard are simple to give, leave no mess, and won't rub off easily, making them hassle-free for families with kids or multiple pets. Frontline Plus targets flea eggs and larvae, while Nexgard focuses on killing newly hatched fleas before they can reproduce. Frontline Plus gets rid of fleas within 12 hours and ticks within 48 hours after applying it. Nexgard, however, wipes out all fleas within 24 hours of administration. If you choose NexGard, you can pair it with Heartgard Plus to protect your pet against heartworms and intestinal worms.

Nexgard is a beef-flavored chewable for dogs that offers protection against various external parasites. When it comes to controlling ticks, Nexgard offers more. Nexgard controls bush tick infestations for five weeks. Frontline Plus protects against paralysis ticks for two weeks and brown dog ticks for four weeks as compared to Nexgard’s five-week (35 days) protection against the same tick species. Furthermore, Nexgard is useful in the treatment and control of demodectic and sarcoptic mange and ear mite infestations. Considering the composition, Frontline Plus and Nexgard, both are safe and reliable treatments. Either of these treatments is equally effective in protecting dogs from fleas and infestations caused by fleas including flea allergy dermatitis. Nexgard for dogs kills adult fleas, treats and prevents flea infestations and kills newly acquired fleas before they can lay eggs.

Nexgard is a beef-flavored tablet that is highly palatable for dogs. It kills fleas and is highly effective against different species of ticks which include American dog ticks, Black-legged ticks, and Brown ticks. Some dogs may not prefer spot-ons like Frontline Plus which may cause greasiness of skin or fur. You can give Nexgard along with the heartworm preventative. Or rather use Nexgard Spectra which has double action – flea and tick treatment and heartworm prevention. It is a mess-free solution.
However, Frontline Plus is good for pets that don’t prefer tablets or chews. It is less expensive than Nexgard. Fleas do not necessarily have to bite the dog to be killed by Frontline Plus whereas Nexgard acts only when a flea takes the blood meal. Frontline plus action is quicker as the drug shows its effect within 24 hours of administration whereas Nexgard takes 48 hours to kill the parasites.
Well, the truth is both are equally good. It completely depends on the requirement as per the need for the results. Your decision must be based on these factors rather than simply relying on the marketing gimmicks that entice you to purchase their products.
