Apply a bandage to contain the wound. Use non-adherent gauze pads to cushion the bottom of the foot and absorb blood. The gauze padding will also decrease the pain of walking on the foot. To keep gauze in place, wrap the entire foot in a self-sticking product such as Vet Wrap. It is important to cover the paw from the toes up to and including the ankle or wrist. Covering the toes will prevent them from swelling and covering the ankle or wrist joint will prevent the bandage from slipping off. Make sure the bandage is not too tight. You should be able to insert two fingers between the bandage and the leg. Change the bandage daily.
If your dog chews at the bandage, spray it with an anti-lick product such as bitter apple spray. Keep the bandage dry by taping a plastic bag over it when the dog walks on wet grass.

Bandage the wound.
Wrap the wound with a bandage to protect it and prevent bleeding.
Monitor the healing and change the bandage daily.
The tricky part in treating paw pad injuries is keeping the dog from licking the wound.
Dogs instinctively want to tear off bandages and lick wounds, but licking the wound can introduce bacteria and cause a delay in healing or even infection.
You may have to use a surgical cone and limit your dog's activity for a while.
You might also experiment with boots specially designed to protect healing paws.

If the wound is bleeding - apply a paw bandage.
Properly bandaged, i.e. with cotton between the toes and under the spurs, you can temporarily wrap with strong pressure to stop the bleeding.
Add a paw bandage or pressure bandage if the paw is bleeding a lot.
Apply a pressure bandage in case of heavy bleeding.
In the event of spurting and/or pulsating bleeding from the wound, you should apply a pressure bandage and contact a veterinarian urgently.
It can be difficult to tape a cut on a dog so that it lasts, so contact a vet for advice.
