If someone accidentally takes a pet’s medication containing lufenuron, the side effects of those agents might occur. Human exposures to lufenuron are rare and can generally be managed at home with observation for symptoms such as GI upset and drowsiness. Lufenuron has a wide margin of safety in mammals due to its mechanism of action. Unintentional human exposures to lufenuron are sometimes reported, but no intentional human overdoses have been published. Humans might be exposed to lufenuron by accidentally taking a pet’s medication or using an agricultural product that contains the chemical. If you suspect someone has unintentionally taken lufenuron, get an immediate personalized recommendation online or call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. Do not give flea treatments to humans. Keep pet medications in a separate location from human medications, and do not set out a dog or cat’s tablet where a person might accidentally take it.

If you accidently touch the area, make sure you wash your hands straight away. Side effects from flea and worming treatments are rare, but can happen including: breathing problems salivating weakness or wobbling when moving vomiting. If your pet shows any signs of a reaction after applying the treatment, contact your vet immediately. Try not to stroke the area where you've used the treatment in the day or so after. Wash your hands.

I work for a vet and whenever somebody puts the wrong size flea meds on their dog, we tell them to bathe that area with dawn. So, I would try the same. I think you'll be okay, but if you're really freaked out you should probably call poison control. It's meant to absorb into the skin of the dog... so I'm assuming it would do the same to me. Yeah as long as you didn't lick it you're fine. I freaked out and called Pfizer - they said just to scrub the area. My daughter is completely fine and perhaps this occurs more commonly than we would think. I wouldn't stress too much. I have touched them before, how else to you put it on the dog, I am failing to see the huge emergency, it isn't like you licked it.
