When getting a puppy, you should check that you have a lead and an adjustable collar, or harness to keep your puppy safe when walking them to and from the car. You should also have a blanket or toy to give to your puppy's mother for a while to collect their scent which should help keep your puppy calm on the way home. A bottle of water and a bowl are necessary to make sure your puppy is hydrated on the journey home. It's also a good idea to bring treats to reward your puppy for being well-behaved early on and keep them occupied with something to chew on. Additionally, you should be prepared for potential accidents by having poo bags and cleaning supplies. An appropriately sized crate is also an important item, especially if you're collecting them in a car on your own.
