Is there anything to calm a hyper dog?

The only thing that seems to help is if I take him on a run. My boyfriend tried biking with him, very slowly, He did surprisingly well, and he got super tired. We got him a new chew toy, and gave it to him if he was excited but we couldn’t play at the time. We got a doggie backpack, and we plan on having him carry water on walks, so he gets tired quicker.
