If you are nervous around strangers or don’t trust your dog around other dogs, then your dog will pick up on those cues quickly. They may become more distrustful themselves simply because you seem to be afraid. By keeping yourself calm, you’re giving yourself and your dog both a good chance at a positive interaction. Your dog will mimic your mood in their own interactions with others and will soon learn that it is okay to approach strangers in a friendly way. Teaching your dog to sit when they greet new people is a good habit, and it can make strangers less intimidated by them as well. Although some dogs may never be fully comfortable around strange humans or other dogs, they can learn how to behave themselves properly in social situations, too. Go for walks, taking your dog for walks is an excellent way for them to meet, interact with, and see others. Introduce people you know, start slowly with people you already know, take your dog to a neutral place, such as a park or the sidewalk, to meet your friends and extended family members.

You definitely need to be attuned to your own dog and cultivate experiences where your pup feels safe. Make sure they are enjoying their new, big world. Support your dog in NOT engaging with people or dogs if they don't want to. Only allow dog socialization with carefully selected dogs. Rambunctious players may overwhelm your pup causing stress and social behavior problems. If you have a breed that tends to be dog aggressive work with an experienced trainer on cultivating their dog socialization. If not, take it slow with dogs and focus most of your time and energy on cultivating good experiences with diverse people and places. Your puppy needs a lot of rest so you don't want to exhaust and burn them out. Start by making a list of the things they want. And start controlling their access so they get what they want for doing what YOU want.

A good socialized dog should not be bouncing off the walls to see other dogs or people, they should just be content and calm if they see them or if they don’t. Socialization is supposed to be a neutral normality for them. More socialization is not the key. Proper communication and structure is the key to fixing reactive behaviors and preventing them. If you have a happy go lucky dog, then occasional interactions is all they need, more than once a week daycare I think can turn these types of dogs to be reactive. The bottom line is you do not need to overdo socializing your pet, you should take your dog out and get them accumulated to dogs, people, new places, noises, etc. Again daycare is one of those great socialization tools, just don’t overdo it and have your plan backfire. Set your dog up for success and fun.
