We work on training a lot, go out for good sniffs, one of my dogs will play hide and seek. I also have a red heeler and a vizsla and they do require a lot of mental stimulation. Puzzle toys aren’t great with them either though because the vizsla is young and gets too excited to focus on what to do. She wants to pick it up and throw it. So what are some simple brainy games that won’t require I buy an expensive toy to then get chewed/broken or thrown/broken? One of my dogs will play hide and seek.

To give your best friend a physical and mental workout, try these five brain games for dogs.
The Cup Game puts your dog’s concentration to the test.
All you need are three cups and either a treat or play toy.
The "Come" Game is commonly used to train and teach your furry friend a new trick or command, using dog treats or a handful of kibble to motivate your best friend to accomplish the task at hand: the “come” command.
The "Go Find It" Game is a challenging and tasty way to work your dog’s sense of smell...and tap into their innate urge to hunt.
Treat Toys keep your dog busy chewing and provide satisfying rewards along the way.
Hide and Seek is a classic, where you hide from your dog when they’re not watching or tell them to sit and stay while you find a hiding spot, then tell them to “come” and offer chew treats as a reward once they find you.
Challenging your dog’s mind is not only a fun way to spend time together, but it helps support their overall well-being, too.
From exercising their sense of smell to practicing commands, these dog brain games are sure to be entertaining and educational activities.

Boredom busters are puzzles, toys, and activities that encourage your dog to experiment and problem solve. They’re great for dogs who have energy to burn and are especially helpful for dogs with anxiety or a high energy. Boredom busters should be used under direct supervision to prevent ingestion of any materials used to make the toys.
