Signs of dehydration to watch for include: Bad breath, Less urine than usual, Dry mouth and swollen tongue, Feeling sluggish or tired, Cravings for sweets. Recognizing the signs of dehydration is key to preventing it and staying healthy. Start by checking the color of your urine. Clear or pale yellow urine usually means you’re drinking enough water. But if your urine is dark yellow or amber, then it’s time to drink more water.

You're feeling thirsty, this is one of the symptoms of dehydration in adults and children. Dark yellow, strong-smelling pee and peeing less often than usual are also symptoms. Feeling dizzy or lightheaded and feeling tired can also indicate dehydration. A dry mouth, lips and tongue and sunken eyes are other signs. In babies, signs of dehydration may include a sunken soft spot on top of their head, sunken eyes, few or no tears when they cry, not having many wet nappies, and being drowsy or irritable. If you're peeing less than normal or have dark yellow pee, this can be a sign of dehydration. Your baby or child has fewer wet nappies, this is also a sign.
